“That moment. That instant when your fingers curl round the handles of a shiny, uncreased bag—and all the gorgeous new things inside it become yours. What’s it like? It’s like going hungry for days, then cramming your mouth full of warm buttered toast. It’s like waking up and realizing it’s the weekend. It’s like the better moments of sex. Everything else is blocked out of your mind. It’s pure, selfish pleasure.”
― Sophie Kinsella,
Yup, you guessed right. This one is about shopping. I had to fit this quote in as it is one of my very favorites when it comes to shopping. Don’t get me wrong though, I am not a shopaholic, well not in the sense of the book at least. But this is not a post about excuses, it is a post about that damn cute cardigan I couldn’t reach and believe me, the post is not about only clothes either.
To the not so tiny people reading, I know you’re probably thinking like how the hell can you struggle when shopping… But well, let me mention a few things I have come around and actually more then one time.
Let’s start with groceries. I mean food is the most important thing in life alongside sleep. Right? I am the only one, or at least I hope… So I cannot tell you the amount of times I have needed to ask someone around me to reach and give me something in the store, at least it teaches to not be shy and ask for help. Always find the positives, don’t forget that.
Alongside that, remember when I had a post about partying. And people keep asking me about my id cause I look underage. Well, same thing goes for in the grocery store when I am buying wine or whatever alcoholic, really.
And then, there is shopping in clothing stores. Why I am categorizing only two types of shopping. Mmmmm, that’s kind of the main two things I shop for. I just love food and clothes, okay. And make-up but that is usually short girl friendly.
Going back to clothes, the same problem with reaching things comes back in. However, imagine a sale. Imagine that shirt you wanted and waited to go on sale finally did. You walk into the store, you see it, it’s too high. You ask the girl standing next to the rack to get it for you. Girl says okay but ends up saying she likes the shirt as well. You wear the same size. She takes it saying she saw it first and then you mentally imagine a movie fight. But you remember you’re small and give up. That has happened to me. A bunch of times actually and yes, it sucks.
Then, there is trying on clothes, especially jeans. As they are always too long, you are bound to get the bottom dirty just because changing rooms are not the cleanest. I even got into an argument once with an employee that I did it on purpose.
No matter what crazy thing can happen during shopping though, I can honestly tell you the quote in the beginning of the article will always be true for me. It’s just amazing, therapeutic even. And if a few setbacks are there then it won’t be as fun as it is.
I hope you enjoyed this one. I will see you again soon. Until next time my tiny and lazy fashionistas…
